The First Nations Export Mentoring program connects Aboriginal businesses with experienced Department for Trade and Investment (DTI) mentors. The objective is to help First Nations businesses grow through export or investment.

The businesses involved can be at different stages of their growth and export journey, so the one-on-one mentoring sessions provide advice tailored to the individual business. Mentors can advise on how to overcome short-term challenges or to achieve specific goals.

The businesses and mentors participate in a series of one-on-one sessions for up to 12 months. Mentors are matched with businesses according to their area of expertise, personality and learning styles.

The First Nations Mentoring Program have helped businesses like Anthony Wilson,
Co-Founder/Managing Director, NOOD export, expand, and succeed.

Hear from Tony Coppins, Information Zone, who took part in the First Nations Export Mentoring program during 2022.

Tony explains how the guidance and networks of an experienced DTI mentor, helped him to work towards his business goals. Check out Information Zone.

The branding for First Nations Export Mentoring was developed by Indigenous artist Alysha Menzel.

Symbolism of the design represents people coming together, each sharing their knowledge and nurturing growth. The shape is inspired by a mark in Australian Indigenous culture that references a human sitting. Often the "U" shaped mark is shown facing another, which is symbolic of meeting, conversation and one to one sharing of knowledge.
