Agreement set to expand South Australian wine offering in the United States
An agreement, signed by the South Australian Government and Total Wine & More, the United States’ largest wine and liquor retailer, will strengthen the presence of premium South Australian wine across the Total Wine retail network in the United States.
The partnership will support the growth of South Australia’s world-renowned wine regions and producers through coordinated marketing, education and trade activation initiatives designed to increase consumer awareness, expand market opportunities and drive long-term category growth.
Total Wine & More is described as the US equivalent of Dan Murphy’s, operating 294 superstores across 30 states and one of the largest retail stockists of premium Australian wine in the market.
The United States is South Australia’s fifth top market for wine exports, valued at $95.5 million to June 2026.
The partnership will focus on:
- Promoting South Australia’s premium wine regions and producers through targeted consumer and trade engagement activities
- Expanding market opportunities for South Australian wines through new and existing product listings, supported by shared market insights and category development initiatives
- Strengthening relationships between Total Wine & More and the South Australian wine industry through ongoing collaboration, leadership engagement, trade missions and industry events
- Delivering marketing, education and in-store activation programs to increase consumer awareness, drive sales and support sustainable growth of the premium South Australian wine category.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to showcasing the quality, diversity and provenance of South Australian wines while creating new opportunities for exporters in one of the world’s most important wine markets.
The Department of State Development will continue to work closely with Total Wine & More and South Australia’s wine industry to progress the partnership, identify new market opportunities and deliver initiatives that support the long-term growth and success of South Australian wine exports in the United States.
South Australian wineries are encouraged to keep an eye on the Department of State Development channels for further information on timings and how to express an interest in participating in the program.
