Natural skincare company participates in the National Trade Program

A company that combines 150 years of heritage and personal passion, is amongst 15 companies to be selected as part of the first round of the $1.13 million National Trade Program.

OrganiQ Kangaroo Island is owned by sixth-generation Kangaroo Islander, Sally Paech, who founded the company when she was unable to find natural skincare on the market that suited her needs.

“Our belief at OrganiQ Kangaroo Island is if you can’t eat it, you shouldn’t be putting it on your skin,” said Sally Paech, Founder and Director. “Over a billion dollars of cosmetic packaging goes to landfill each ear and, coming from a historic island, I was determined to do everything I could to avoid contributing to this.

“By using a scrub, you are reducing the need for two extra products and our core facial range consists of only three products and is suitable for every single skin type. Our mission is to empower women to love and nourish the skin that they are in, because it is going to be with them forever.”

The National Trade Program provides training, access to industry mentors and offers direct connections to interstate buyers and distributers to help company participants secure interstate sales. The Department for Trade and Investment is sponsoring all participation costs, with companies covering the costs of shipping samples interstate and any travel costs.

The program includes export training modules delivered online by the Export Council of Australia; ongoing one-to-one mentoring with industry specific experts; excellent platform to test products for market acceptance; raise the profile of a company domestically and increase sales and provide opportunities to pitch to new buyer networks and channels.

“I have grown my business to a national level on my own with only a small family team but to grow significantly I knew it would be of immense benefit to participate in the National Trade Program, expanding our opportunities locally, through a structured program, with professional guidance and multiple levels of experience,” continued Sally. “Sometimes it’s really important to expand your knowledge base before you make the big mistakes that you don’t even realise could be ahead.”

OrganiQ uses native extracts and bio-actives specific to Kangaroo Island, that have the ability to cleanse, detoxify and condition even the most delicate skin.

“Learning from people who have worked with businesses at all levels of scale will help us understand how to reach certain national markets we may not have considered, and develop a solid strategy for success,” continued Sally. For now, and the next 12 months, our focus is on growing our e-commerce presence, this way we have global reach 24/7 and can reach and acquire Australian customers on a much more direct and personal level.”
