New Agent General for South Australia in London

Leon Bignell, a former South Australian Government Minister, has been appointed as South Australia’s new Agent-General for a four-year term, based in London.

Mr Bignell will replace David Ridgway who was appointed in 2021 and is not seeking reappointment.

The Office of the Agent-General represents the South Australian Government across the United Kingdom and Europe, working in partnership with business, the community, government, industry and stakeholders to maximise opportunities and benefits for South Australia.

The Office aims to increase awareness of South Australia and drive preference for the state as a destination of choice for foreign investment, migration, study and tourism, as well as being a producer of premium food and wine.

The Office focuses on opportunities arising from free trade agreements with both the UK and Europe, across trade and investment, research and development, skills, education and migration.
