South Australia attracts Indian tech investment
South Australia’s investment opportunities have attracted India’s leading technology companies – as the country’s major firms signal their interest in investing in the State at a trade event in Bengaluru – India’s Silicon Valley.
Attendees at the Critical Technologies Roundtable, hosted by Trade and Investment Minister Nick Champion, as part of his bipartisan mission to India, included representatives from the country’s growing companies across the commercial space and IT services sectors.
The roundtable was an opportunity to showcase South Australia as Australia’s primary innovation destination, with world leading capabilities and infrastructure critical to developing next generation defence, space, renewables, hydrogen, and cyber technologies.
In February 2023, the South Australian Department for Trade and Investment hosted a delegation of about 25 Indian information technology companies in Adelaide.
The delegation, led by India’s premier IT industry association, the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), drew extremely positive feedback about South Australian capabilities in artificial intelligence, cyber and digital infrastructure.
The Department for Trade and Investment has continued to build relationships with Indian IT companies, following that visit, including presenting in March at the NASSCOM annual conference in Mumbai.
The Minister’s Roundtable is an in-market precursor to November's Horasis India Meeting – one of the most important annual meetings for Indian Business Leaders - in Adelaide this month.
