With just a few days to go, South Australia’s presence at one of the world’s largest and oldest international exhibitions, is taking shape.

World Expo 2025 Osaka is a six-month long exhibition taking place in Osaka, Japan. The South Australian Government has committed $1 million to join Team Australia at the ‘Australia Pavilion’.

World Expo is the largest of its kind, with more than 150 nations and regions participating and an anticipated 28 million visitors expected to attend over the course of the Expo, from 13 April to 13 October. During that time, more than 15,000 visitors are expected to visit the Australia Pavilion each day.

The Australia Pavilion has been designed by architectural firm Buchan and has been constructed using repurposed and reusable materials, including modular elements previously used for venues at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The Pavilion’s design reflects Australia’s Expo theme, ‘Chasing the Sun’, and is designed to showcase Australia’s clean energy and low-emissions technologies. South Australia will highlight its position as a preferred partner on energy security and as a world leader in renewable energy.

World Expo will feature iconic South Australian brands such as Coopers at the Pavilion’s food and beverage cabin to quench the thirst of thousands of international visitors. Coopers have supplied more than 750 cartons to supply the food cabin for the first three months.

“South Australia has truly world-class food and beverage products to share with the world,” said Andrew Cooper, Director of Coopers Global and Key Accounts. “We’re pleased Coopers beers will be on offer to guests attending the Expo, including our popular great tasting Coopers Australian Lager and Original Pale Ale.”

Visitors to the Australia Pavilion Cafe will also be able to enjoy Southern Bluefin Tuna, South Australian lamb and beef, and wines from South Australia’s world-class wine regions, through a mix of live demonstrations, themed events and direct sales.

World Expo officially opens on 13 April, with a South Australian launch event kicking off activities at the Australia Pavilion on 16 April.

Japan is an important cultural and trading partner to South Australia, with a South Australian Government trade and investment office based in Tokyo. In the year to January 2025, Japan imported $643.5 million of South Australian goods and was the state’s eighth largest export partner.
